Privacy Policy for PixlPickPro

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled when you use PixlPickPro (the “App”), a desktop screen colour‑picker and on‑screen measuring tool for Windows and macOS.

The App is provided by Tudor Moldovan, a sole trader (“we”, “us”, “our”). You can contact us at apps@tudormoldovan.eu.

The rest of this policy explains this in more detail and covers the limited data that the app stores that distribute PixlPickPro (Microsoft Store and Apple’s Mac App Store) may process on their own behalf.

1. Data we collect

None. We do not collect any personal data through the App. Specifically, the App does not:

• require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or any other identifying information;
• contain any analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking technologies;
• connect to any server operated by us;
• upload, transmit, or back up any of your data anywhere.

2. How the App works on your device

To do its job, the App processes the following information locally on your computer only. This information is never sent to us or to any third party.

• Screen contents. When you activate the colour picker or the measuring tool, the App takes a snapshot of your screen(s) so it can display the magnified loupe and read the colour of the pixel under your cursor. This snapshot is held in memory only for the duration of that action and is discarded immediately afterwards. It is never saved to disk, uploaded, or shared.
• Picked colours and measurements. When you pick a colour or measure a distance, the result (for example a hex colour code such as #3A7BD5, or a pixel size such as 240 × 120) is copied to your system clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere.

Because all of this happens on your device and nothing is stored permanently or transmitted, we have no ability to access, recover, or share it.

3. Screen recording / screen capture permission (macOS)

On macOS, the operating system requires you to grant Screen Recording permission before any application can read the contents of the screen. The App uses this permission solely to display the magnified loupe and detect the colour under your cursor, as described above. Granting this permission does not send any data to us. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.

4. Links that open your browser

The App contains menu links (for example “Help” and “More apps”) that, when clicked, open your default web browser to a website. When you follow such a link, the destination website may process data in accordance with its own privacy policy. We are only responsible for the App itself, not for third‑party websites.

5. App stores

PixlPickPro is distributed through the Microsoft Store and the Apple Mac App Store. When you download, purchase, or update the App, that store processes your transaction and may collect information such as your account identifier, payment details, device information, and download or usage statistics. This processing is carried out by the relevant store as an independent data controller, under its own privacy policy - not by us. We do not receive your payment details or personal account information; at most we may see anonymised, aggregated sales and download figures.

6. Website, cookies & analytics

This section applies to our website - the pages you may have used to learn about or download PixlPickPro - and is separate from the desktop App described above. Here, we (Tudor Moldovan) act as the data controller.

Analytics are strictly optional and off by default. When you first visit, we show a cookie banner. No analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is collected unless and until you give consent by choosing “Accept All” or by turning on the Analytics cookies switch and saving. If you choose “Accept Essential,” only the strictly necessary items below are used. This is our lawful basis under the EU GDPR and the Romanian ePrivacy rules (Law No. 506/2004, implementing the EU ePrivacy Directive): your consent.

Essential (always on)

These do not identify you and are needed for the site to remember your choices. They are stored in your browser’s local storage on your own device, not sent to us:

• cookie-show-track-vis - remembers that you have made a cookie choice, so we do not ask again on every visit.
• gdpr-ga - stores your Analytics cookies on/off preference.

Analytics (only with your consent)

If you consent, we use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the website (for example, which pages are viewed and how people arrive) so we can improve it. With your consent, Google Analytics may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, referring website, and the pages and interactions on our site, and sets cookies (for example _ga and _ga_*) that can remain for up to about two years unless you clear them.

Google processes this data on our behalf as a data processor, and may transfer it to servers in the United States. Such transfers are covered by Google’s data transfer safeguards (the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses). We do not serve advertising on the website and do not use advertising or cross‑site tracking cookies.

Withdrawing or changing your consent

You can change your mind at any time using the cookie‑settings button that appears on the site after you make a choice, which reopens the cookie options so you can turn analytics off (or on) again. Turning analytics off stops further collection; you can also delete cookies through your browser settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.

7. Children’s privacy

The App is a general‑purpose utility and is not directed at children. Because we do not collect any personal data from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, data‑protection laws such as the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws (for example the California Consumer Privacy Act) give you rights over your personal data, including rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability.

Because we do not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or export, and we have no records that could identify you. If you believe we hold data about you and wish to exercise any right, you may nevertheless contact us at apps@tudormoldovan.eu and we will respond.

For any personal data processed by the app stores, please exercise your rights directly with Microsoft or Apple.

If you are in the EU and have concerns about how your data is handled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. As we are based in Romania, our lead authority is the Romanian National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP), https://www.dataprotection.ro. You may also complain to the supervisory authority in your own EU country of residence.

9. International users

The App works the same way everywhere: all processing happens locally on your device, so no personal data is transferred across borders by us.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App’s features change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at [YOUR WEBSITE URL]. Material changes will be highlighted where practical. Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
